The Essence magazine team needed to quickly and effectively rebuild their responsive site after going independent this past year - they turned to CemtrexLabs to make it happen. Our design and engineering leaders worked closely with the Essence team to intimately understand the hierarchy and taxonomy of the old site we would be rebuilding. Simultaneously our team had to understand the consumption and traffic patterns of Essence's user base. Armed with the key data points we needed to get rolling – the CemtrexLabs team immediately aimed to rebuild compositions and style guides for the site. This resulted in an outlined a new site architecture in along with advanced mapping of data sets for migration.
Where possible, the CLabs team took opportunities to further refine the functionality and experience of the site. They developed custom post types to visually and functionally enhance article displays and integrated appropriate third-party modules like Google Analytics and BounceX to optimize management of the site. To complete the process, CemtrexLabs migrated over 70,000 legacy articles from Essence's legacy infrastructure to our new rebuilt site. The new Essence.com went live on August 2nd, 2018
